It’s autumn.

The leaves are doing their lovely dance to the ground, the temps are cooler, and it’s pumpkin spice everything time.  But when you are nine months pregnant, enjoying the season might be a bit more difficult, when you are ready for baby to GET HERE!  We compiled a list of nine things to do when you are nine months pregnant in Winston-Salem,  summer edition, and now it’s time for our fall edition.

winston-salem doulas The Home Maze and Pumpkin Patch– The Farm at the Children’s Home in Winston-Salem is celebrating fall with an incredible corn field maze and pumpkin patch. What better way to spend a crisp autumn day than picking out your annual pumpkin in their gorgeous patch, and wandering through the maze with your partner? I’m sure this would be a perfect place to snap a few pictures of that gorgeous ninth month belly too! The Farm at the Children’s Home is located at 1001 Reynolda Rd, Winston-Salem, NC 27104.

Go to a Wake Forest home football game–Root for the local home team! Get tickets for a Wake Forest football game and enjoy a Saturday at the football field.  Buy your gold and black pom and pom and cheer on the Demon Deacons. Visit here for information on game schedule and ticket prices.

bethabaraVisit historic Bethabara Park–This park is the site of the first Moravian settlement in North Carolina, going back to the mid 1700’s. The grounds are beautiful on a bright sunny day, so bring your camera along. Take in some history and enjoy a lovely walk around the beautiful old structures.  On October 8th, 2015 they will hold their annual “Dark In The Park” from 5 pm to 8:30 pm, a concert and family fun evening with a Halloween twist.   2147 Bethabara Rd, Winston-Salem, NC 27106

winston-salem food tourTake a food tour–Put your comfortable walking shoes on bring your appetite! Enjoy a walking food tour of some of the most popular restaurants in Winston-Salem. Tour De Food visits restaurants in Downtown Winston-Salem and in the Arts District, and is a delicious and delightful way to spend an autumn afternoon. Visit the giant shell–So, this is a quick trip, but could make for a great photo! Did you know we have a giant Shell-Shaped gas station here in Winston? It’s a nifty landmark dating back to the 1930’s. Because, everybody needs a maternity photo at a giant shell shaped gas station, right? Check out photos and information and directions here.

winston salem doulaTake a trip to the Dixie Classic Fair-The Dixie Classic Fair is a local fall favorite! At nine months pregnant you probably won’t be riding any of the carnival rides, but there’s plenty more to see (and eat). Exhibitions, entertainment, games (Bingo at the fair is always fun!). Have your partner win you a stuffed animal and see which giant pumpkin won the blue ribbon.  This year’s fair runs from October 2nd until October 10th.   421 West 27th Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27102

The Lexington Barbecue Festival–OK, so technically, this isn’t in Winston-Salem, but it’s only about a 20 minute or so drive away, in neighboring Davidson County. This BBQ festival is legendary, not just in North Carolina but across the country! Thousands of people descend upon the quaint town of Lexington, NC for this annual event. Music, fun and the best barbecue around-Lexington style! This year’s (2015) festival takes place October 24th in Uptown Lexington, NC. Visit their website for all the delish details!

Get into the spirit and dress up. Be sure to take lots of pics! Hand out candy at your house or a Trunk or Treat event. Find some local Haloween costume contests and enter!  Check out Pinterest for some inspiration.
